Teaching Assistant - Extension School
Engage groups of lifelong learners and deliver an exceptional learning experience. This is your goal
as a Teaching Assistant at the TU Delft Extension School for Continuing Education.
The TA will support the moderation of the online course: Spatial Circularity for Sustainable Regional Development:
We are hiring Teaching Assistants (TAs) to run online courses, moderate them, communicate with
learners, and prepare re-runs.
The courses are developed with all faculties, and therefore we are looking for TA moderators who
have subject matter knowledge.
As a TA you will be part of the Learning Experience Team, consisting of trained and dedicated TAs,
led by a coordinator.
Job description
Prepare reruns of online courses
• Update content, calendar, and deadlines.
• Verify technical issues and functionalities.
• Collaborate with learner developers, course teams and edX support team.
Actively e-moderate courses
• Welcome learners, provide weekly updates, moderate the forum, and answer learners’
questions.
• Oversee learner support and study support. You will encourage participation and desirable
behavior and engage course participants to keep them motivated.
• Monitor progress, provide feedback and help solve problems and queries. In case of
advanced subject-matter questions, you will contact the responsible lecturer.
• Build a safe learning atmosphere. You will discourage undesirable behavior and uphold the
applicable rules.
• Keep a track record of questions, answers, and learner communication.
• Provide relevant feedback to improve the course design and modify it as necessary for
future course runs.
• Support the promotion of courses by informing learners and encouraging them to take the
next step in a program.
• Contribute to the development of the Learning Experience Team.
• Support community building, knowledge sharing and documentation. This includes regular
log of activities and contributions.
• Comply with the ES service quality standards and participate in relevant meetings.

Contract Duration
The Extension School for Continuing Education is hiring TAs with a minimum availability of 12
months. After selection, the introduction period and your first training, you will work independently
with flexible hours. Courses run all year round, 24/7.
The employment contract is administered via Flex Delft.

within our innovation-oriented educational organization since its foundation in 2014.
We focus on online higher education. Along with external partners and the faculties of TU Delft, we
develop and provide courses and short programs for external target groups. Think of international
career starters, who want to develop further through online education. Upon completion, our learners
receive an officially (accredited) certificate for the educational module(s) they have taken.
The Extension School is an independent organization within TU Delft. Our management team reports
directly to the Executive Board. We work with about fifty colleagues from our own office on the
university campus. An international team with expert and passionate employees of more than ten
